Mostly yankee travels

World66 has a cute little app that will let you generate a map of all the states you've visited. Here's mine:

Too bad we didn't go dip our toes in Rhode Island back in October.

They also have one for the countries you've visited, but that's kind of pointless in my case.

What's with Georgia and Rhode Island?
Strange iconoclast singletons?

If you specify only 1 state, the script crashes.
(I wanted to verify that the southern singleton
was indeed Georgia, and found the bug).

I noticed that bug too.

We drove past RI back in the fall towards the end of our marathon driving tour of the northeast. We just couldn't summon up the energy to add the extra 50 miles for a spin through RI.

Went to GA a few years back for the baptism of Becky's cousin/goddaughter Sara. Spent the entire time between Atlanta and Athens if I remember correctly.

Wouldn't go a mere 50 miles to add a state to your lifelist? Boy, I must be a different sort of person than that. It would be a no-brainer for me. Then again, my list is at 46 states plus DC (missing AK, HI, AR, MS).

It's not just states, either. A few years ago, I spent several hours going out of my way to reach Tehachapi Pass in California. Why? Because I'd previously been in Tucson, Tucumcari, and Tonopah. I hope the late Lowell George got a chuckle out of it.
