Are these bees there solely for amusement?

A friend is a beekeeper and fledgling apitherapist. Various members of our household are playing guinea pig for her. The plan was to administer some stings, but various circumstances precluded trying that at this point. Maybe later. So "Pets?", no, more like livestock. Prisoners? only temporarily. Condemned? yes, but they were granted a reprieve. No eviction required, and the amusement value was just a happy side effect.
