Bag boy

cat in cloth grocery bag hanging from doorknob

Theo likes to ride around in bags. Or just hang around.

What happens when the cat gets out of the bag?
Explosive energy release, or grooming?

You did have to put him in there, right? He didn't get in by himself?

Theo, like most cats, likes being in bags. Our cloth grocery bags are often hanging off the back of a chair by their handles.

The way this game works, Theo will hop on the chair and start pawing at the opening of the bag and hollering at us. One of us will pull one of the handles off the back of the chair so the bag is open, and Theo will (after some consideration) dive in head first. He has done this without assistance once or twice, but it's easier if we help. Once he's in the bag we usually give him a ride, swinging the bag, or running around the house.

This picture was taken after a bag ride when I was tired, but Theo wasn't ready to get out of the bag yet, so I hung him on the doorknob. So, yes he got in by himself (mostly), but the bag wasn't where you see it when he did it.

To answer Dan's question, either is a possibility. We haven't played this game in a long time, but I seem to recall that a common response was to shake off and then look at us with a "do it again!" expression.
